After receiving a Fulbright scholarship to work at the University of Belgrade in the former Yugoslavia, Zak began his photographic study abroad programs via Napa Valley College, and then from the photography department at Solano Community College. Through his courses and independent travel, Zak has focused his lens on numerous countries including: Argentina, Cambodia, Chile, China, Cuba, France, India, Italy, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Turkey, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
